Dominique Rigo: For sustainable, timeless and transferable design

At Dominique Rigo, sustainable design only matters when it stands the test of time

At Dominique Rigo, we believe that sustainable design only has meaning when it lasts. That is why we are committed to furniture that respects both the environment and future generations. After all, beauty is truly valuable only when it is responsible.

Back in 2012, we began our energy transition by replacing all showroom lighting with LED technology. As a result, we reduced our energy consumption while improving the quality of light. Since then, this first step toward greater sustainability has inspired many other initiatives.

In 2017, we installed 250 solar panels on the roof of our warehouse in Uccle. Thanks to this investment, we now generate over 68,000 kWh of green electricity each year. Moreover, two electric charging stations have been added to our parking area to promote clean mobility.

A shared commitment

However, our responsibility does not stop there. We collaborate with design houses that share our vision:

  • Vitra designs repairable and recyclable furniture built to last;
  • Fritz Hansen uses bio-based plastics and optimises resources;
  • MDF Italia aims for zero waste through efficient production;
  • Poliform selects eco-designed fabrics and sustainable logistics;
  • B&B Italia invests in environmentally conscious innovation.

Timeless and sustainable design

Ultimately, these pieces stand out not only for their low ecological impact but also for their timeless appeal. Icons such as the Eames Lounge Chair, Arne Jacobsen’s Series 7 and Richard Sapper’s Tizio lamp continue to inspire generation after generation. Thus, they become true heirlooms of modern design.

In the end, choosing Dominique Rigo means investing in sustainable design that is timeless, meaningful and enduring. For us, a piece of furniture is not just an object — it is a life companion, a legacy and a silent expression of elegance and awareness.
