Since 1974, Maison Dominique Rigo has embodied signature design with passion, rigour and creativity. This half-century of existence is much more than a simple celebration: it is the story of a visionary family, a timeless style and a continuous quest for excellence in interior design.
An architectural legacy that has become a design icon
Dominique Rigo, an architect by training, did not follow the beaten path. A true ‘black sheep’, he left the world of energy to create a universe dedicated to contemporary furniture. From the outset, he collaborated with iconic companies such as Knoll, Vitra, Flos and Cassina, laying the foundations for a unique style: understated, functional, sustainable, but always full of character.
A family success story
Today, his daughters Charlotte and Mélanie Rigo have taken up the torch. Charlotte designs and stages spaces with rigour and emotion. Mélanie passionately manages communications. Together, they perpetuate the company’s DNA: ‘Understanding desires, listening to needs, avoiding monotony and creating living spaces with soul.’
Six pieces to celebrate 50 years of design
To mark its anniversary, Dominique Rigo has produced six iconic creations in a limited edition. These include:
– Xavier Lust’s Bench in mustard yellow lacquer (MDF Italia),
– The Togo sofa (Ligne Roset) upholstered in an exclusive ‘TAM’ fabric designed by Tondabayashi Ran,
– The Nelson Bench (Vitra) in walnut,
– The Series 7 chair (Fritz Hansen) engraved with the ‘50 years’ logo,
– The Birdie Easy lamp (Foscarini),
– The Wine Bag (Poltrona Frau) in stiff English green leather.
These pieces, designed as ‘collectors’ items’, pay tribute to 50 years of loyalty between Rigo and its partner publishers.
A style that transcends time
Dominique Rigo’s strength? Its timelessness. Far from fleeting trends, the company favours elegant and comfortable interiors, where each piece tells a story. The Barcelona Chair, the Eames Lounge Chair, the Pipistrello lamp… These classics, always on display, are testament to impeccable taste, reinvented to last.
A vision focused on tomorrow
For Charlotte Rigo, the challenge of the future no longer lies in form, but in the sustainability of materials. More than ever, she advocates thoughtful, committed design that is capable of responding to changes in our lifestyles. In her eyes, ‘comfort takes precedence over show-off’ — a philosophy that appeals to an audience in search of meaning and authenticity.
Dominique Rigo is not just a showroom. It is an experience, a vision, a place of creation and transmission. And above all, it is a beautiful family story that continues to reinvent itself.
